Thank you so much for choosing me to be one of the scholarship recipients this year. It means so much to me to be recognized by a foundation that stands for such strong values and commitment to service as these are very important in my own life. Paying for college has always presented itself as a challenge for my family and this scholarship will surely help alleviate some of the stress associated with financing my future education. Starting this fall, I will be using the scholarship money towards my first year of college at Ball State University where I will be double majoring in Accounting and Finance and minoring in Spanish. This scholarship has inspired and encouraged me to continue to seek out ways to help the community and the world around me, even as I move to a new area. Once again, I would like to thank the Melissa Stoneberger Foundation for aiding me in my future educational endeavors and allowing me to continue to emulate the service and leadership that Melissa Stoneberger exemplified throughout her life.

I am truly honored to have received this scholarship! My parents and I are tremendously grateful that this will be able to help pay for my fall semester tuition at Grand Canyon University. I cannot thank the Melissa Stoneberger Foundation enough for their generosity! I understand that Missy was an extraordinary woman and I intend to live life everyday to the fullest as she did. Melissa’s passion of helping others is one that I share. It is a great joy of mine to be able to assist others and I have full intentions of continuing this shared value at GCU and throughout my life. My primary goal in my future career is to help others and receiving this scholarship is helping me to get one step closer to being able to do this in my chosen career path.

I am incredibly grateful for the scholarship, and the opportunities it will provide for me by contributing to my college education at Biola University, where I will be studying Communications, as well as Journalism. I hope to use what I learn in order to help those in need, just as Missy wished. This scholarship is a blessing in my life, and I know it will continue to be a blessing for many others!

I am extremely grateful to the Melissa Stoneberger Foundation for awarding me a scholarship. I am a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University. Although the opportunity to attend the institution of my dreams comes at a financial cost, this scholarship makes my aspirations more affordable. At Hopkins, I study Biomedical Engineering, while also actively participating in my community—like Melissa Stoneberger. Last year, I participated in an organization that consulted with Baltimore nonprofits to help them expand their efforts. As a member of a design team, I am engineering a device to address an unmet clinical need. In a few years, I hope to work in a biotechnology or medical device company to engineer treatments and equipment to improve people's lives. I am passionate about serving my community, and thus this scholarship will help me further Melissa Stoneberger's legacy of helping others.

I am extremely thrilled to have got awarded this special scholarship and I hope to make the foundation proud of my hard work I will do with this scholarship. I also hope to make that difference in the world with this scholarship. Thank you for making my dreams possible!

I am sincerely thankful to the Melissa Stoneberger Foundation for selecting me to receive this scholarship. From the moment I was accepted to the school that I dreamed of attending, Bates College, I began working very hard (through multiple jobs and applying for many scholarships) to raise money so that it would be possible for me to attend. Receiving this scholarship truly makes a huge difference for my family and me in our combined efforts to cover the cost of my tuition.
In addition to how much the financial award will help us, I feel honored to be associated with a scholarship named after Melissa Stoneberger, who, from what I understand, was a remarkable person, and someone with whom I share many values that I consider to be most important. Melissa’s passion for helping people in need resonates with me a great deal. I believe that those values are alive at Bates and that is precisely why I felt so strongly that it was the right place for me to go to college and was undeterred by the financial challenges involved. Bates’ emphasis on social justice and civic engagement and its location in Lewiston, Maine, an unlikely home for many Somali refugees and immigrants, make it the perfect place for me to grow and pursue a life centered on helping and understanding others. My vision that Lewiston would be the kind of community where I could work with those most vulnerable has proven to be true; I am actively involved as a volunteer in my teaching an English Language class and working for an after-school homework help program. It has become clear to me that there are many issues that affect Lewiston’s people and that there is a lot to learn from an incredibly kind community there. Bates—and more specifically, the way it uniquely matches my values—has lived up to all that I had hoped my college experience would be. I am so grateful for this generous scholarship as it will help enable me to continue my studies. It is also a great honor for me to be connected to someone who lived such an inspiring and selfless life. |

I am so grateful to have won this scholarship, I plan to use it to further my education so that way I can hopefully become a doctor and help other people like me. College costs an arm and a leg these days so an Angel was definitely looking out for me. This scholarship will help me pursue my dreams and in turn help other sick children. I can't thank the Melissa Stoneberger Foundation enough for that.

Thank you so much for choosing me as your scholarship recipient. I accept and am beyond thankful for this scholarship. I am planning on putting all the money towards my upcoming spring 2018 semester of college at Grand Canyon University. I am a nursing major and aspiring to become a pediatric trauma nurse. I am financially having to pay for college by myself and this tremendously will help. I am very thankful. With my career, I hope to continue to help kids. This past semester of college I found a local church I love, New City, where I am involved in helping in children’s ministry Sunday mornings. I love helping out in the community as much as I can. As I grow older, I hope I am able to help someone financially like you have helped me because you are a blessing in my life.
